SpyBot Search and Destroy

1. Open Spybot by double clicking on the icon on the desktop.  If you see the screen below, read it and click OK.  You can also check the box shown and you won’t see this window again.
   
2. You might also see this screen if you have AdAware installed.  Again, read it and click OK.  Check the box so you won’t see the warning again.
   
3. This is the opening screen:
   
   Click on Search for Updates button as shown.  Be sure that your internet is connected.
4. The program will see if there are updates and the following screen will appear:
   
   Check all the boxes as shown above.  Then click “Download Updates” at the top of the window.
5. At the next screen, click on “Check for problems”.  If you don’t see it, click on “Search and Destroy” on the left, then click “Check for problems”.  This will start the scan.
   
6. The window will now show all the items it has discovered.  There could be hundreds if this is your first scan.  Don’t worry, the program should remove them.  Here’s the screen:
   
   Simply click on “Fix selected problems” to remove.  You may see a message about creating a system restore point.  If so just wait ‘til it’s done.  It may take a while so be patient.
7. Click Yes , then OK as shown below.
   
8. Now it’s time to immunize.  This will block these items in the future.  Click on “Immunize” as shown.
   
9. Click on the “OK” as shown below.
   
   
   
10. Here’s the next screen that comes up:

11. That’s it.  You can close the window and continue working.  Notice that immunize will prevent known items from infecting your computer.  .
